International Students

International students face the unique challenges of complying with complicated government regulations and acclimating to a new environment and culture. The UA provides extensive support to these students throughout their academic tenures.

Concurrent Enrollment

Most undergraduate international students are eligible to combine their enrollment at the UA and Pima Community College in order to meet minimum unit requirements for their visas. Students are required to enroll in at least 6 UA units in addition to any units that they take at Pima, and must have all transfer courses approved by both their academic and International Student Programs and Services advisors.

Cultural and Religious Centers

The University and Tucson community provide several cultural and religious centers that may provide support to international students as they acclimate to the United States. Students who cannot find a group to meet their cultural or religious needs may establish their own student groups by following the University's guidelines for starting a new club or organization.

Immigration and Visa Information

International students are responsible for meeting the requirements of their individual visas. Students should work closely with the Office of International Student Programs and Services in order to ensure that they are in compliance with visa regulations.

International Student Admissions

The Office of International Student Admissions manages University applications from non-domestic applicants, and also determines the transferability of coursework taken abroad. Students with transfer work from a non-US institution should take their official transcripts to the Office of International Student Admissions.

International Student Programs and Services (ISPS)

ISPS serves as a major support unit for all international students, from the time of admission through graduation. Advisors in ISPS organize international student orientation, advise students regarding visa compliance, provide academic and social programming, and serve as student advocates to academic departments and state, local, and federal agencies.
