Minor Description:

A minor in mathematics will enhance a student’s ability to think logically, problem solve, and apply quantitative methods to their major field.  The minor is available to any student enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at the University of Arizona, excepting students who have a mathematics major within the same program.

Minor Requirements:

Math minor requirements are available on the Math Department website at
Note that requirements may differ based on the catalog under which a student enters the university (students may also select a newer catalog, if desired).  Keep in mind that some courses listed under older catalogs may be obsolete, and new courses may also have been added.  Contact the minor advisor for more information.

Students are expected to comply with published prerequisites. Before selecting courses above the level of MATH 129, it is recommended that students consider all of their remaining minor courses and verify their prerequisites, in order to plan an efficient path to completion of the minor. See the catalog for available courses, descriptions, and prerequisites Academic Advisement Report

University policy:  Students with a declared minor at the time of application for degree candidacy will see the defined minor on their Student Academic Advisement Report (SAAR).  University and transfer courses with direct equivalency may satisfy the minor requirements.  If the student has completed the minor as structured by the minor department, there is no need for the signature of the minor advisor on the degree audit.
