Policies & Procedures

As with any large organization, policies and procedures are in place to guide our interactions within the institutional framework. The Academic Catalog is the primary and official source for all degree programs and requirements as well as institutional policies and procedures. Some policies and procedures, however, are defined and administered by individual colleges and departments.  Students are responsible for following all policies, but are encouraged to seek assistance from their academic advisors whenever questions arise.

Academic Catalog and Policies

The majority of University policies and procedures are organized in the academic catalog.  Students are held to the policies and degree requirements outlined in their specific catalog year.

Codes of Conduct

In order to protect the integrity of the campus community, all students are held to the Code of Academic Integrity and Code of Conduct.

Declaring a Major or Minor

Procedures for declaring majors and minors, which may include meeting with new advisors or attending information sessions, vary among colleges and departments.

Double Dipping

Although no University policy exists regarding the use of single courses to fulfill multiple degree requirements, individual departments and colleges may have policies restricting this practice.

FERPA

The Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act protects students records from being shared with outside parties, except in specified situations.

Forms and Processes

Many of the actions students wish to take in a given semester, such as withdrawing from classes, filing for graduation, or pursuing a study abroad program, require that one go through formal processes and file official paperwork.  Many forms and processes can be initiated online, while others require meeting with a specific individual or office.
