Student Athletes
Student athletes are highly encouraged to work closely with both the academic advisors in their majors and the learning specialists in the C.A.T.S. academic program in order to receive advice about their academic progress and support in managing their demanding schedules, all while adhering to the guidelines of the NCAA.
Commitment to Athletes' Total Success (C.A.T.S. Academics)
The C.A.T.S. Academics program provides personal development, career development, and academic support opportunities for UA student athletes. C.A.T.S. advisors serve as learning specialists, guiding athletes toward support services and helping them work within the NCAA regulations, but do not provide academic advising to students with declared majors. All students must work closely with the academic advisors in their major departments in order to ensure that they are meeting degree requirements. Student athletes who have not yet declared a major will receive both learning support and academic advising through C.A.T.S. Academics.
NCAA Regulations for Academic Eligibility
The National Collegiate Athletic Association dictates strict guidelines for maintaining eligibility to participate in university athletics. Students should become familiar with these regulations and work to maintain continuous eligibility. However, because guidelines are complex and ever evolving, student athletes must work closely with their C.A.T.S. advisors in order to ensure that requirements are being met.
