Transfer Students
Ensuring that courses from other institutions can be applied toward a UA degree is one of the greatest concerns of transfer students. The UA provides multiple resources to assist both students who are transferring from other institutions and current students who wish to take classes at other schools as they make their course selections.
Arizona Community College Transfer Guides
Arizona transfer guides serve as a resource for students who are planning to transfer to the UA from an Arizona community college. These guides, which list transferable courses that can be applied to different majors, should be used in consultation with a UA academic advisor.
Arizona Course Equivalency Guides
The Arizona Course Equivalency Guide lists all courses offered at each Arizona community college and explains how these courses can be used at UA, ASU, or NAU. This guide serves as an excellent resource both for prospective transfer students and for current UA students who plan to take classes at an Arizona community college.
Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC)
All Arizona community colleges allow students to complete an AGEC, which is a cluster of courses that is guaranteed to fulfill the general education requirements at any of the three public Arizona universities. Prospective transfer students should speak with a UA academic advisor prior to completing an AGEC in order to ensure that this is the best pathway for their intended major.
Consortium Agreement
Students who must be full-time for the purposes of maintaining financial aid eligibility may be able to combine course loads at the UA and another institution in order to meet minimum unit requirements. Authorization for this dual enrollment requires approval of a Consortium Agreement Application, and should also only be done in consultation with a UA academic advisor.
Pre-Approval of Transfer Courses
Current UA students may choose to complete some courses at another college or university. Before enrolling for courses elsewhere, students must gain pre-approval for their transfer courses in order to ensure that they will apply toward specific major or university course requirements.
Residency Classification
The Residency Classification Office determines students' official state of residency for the purpose of calculating tuition rate, and also provides guidelines for petitioning for change of residency classification.
Transfer Center at UA
The Transfer Center provides general guidance to students as they pursue transfer to the UA. Services include assistance with the University application, referrals to university services, and connections to advising and orientation programs.
