Lunch and Learn - The ASEMS Experience

Arizona’s Science, Engineering and Math Scholars (ASEMS) is a STEM equity program that supports the retention and success of female and underrepresented (UR) students. We work with the admissions and advising units to recruit incoming first year and transfer STEM majors. Eligible students can be first-generation college, low income, students with disabilities, LGBTQ students, veterans, and students from historically marginalized groups. ASEMS’ retention strategies include strengthening the scholar’s sense of belonging and confidence, providing them with research opportunities and paid internships, developing their identities as scientists and engineers, preparing them for meaningful STEM careers, and encouraging them to center their wellbeing. We will share the ASEMS experience and look forward to hearing your insights and strategies. What works and doesn’t? What can we improve? How do we sustain our own wellbeing while encouraging our students to do the same? Join us for a relaxed and healing conversation as we celebrate the resilience of our Wildcat community during a historic time.
