Ursula Basinger, M.S.

Senior Instructional Designer for Advisor Training and Development

Pronouns:
she, her, hers

Hi, I'm Ursula, the Advisor Resource Center's Senior Instructional Designer. In this role, I design and facilitate resources and experiences to support advisor training and development across the university. Information access for advisors is a priority of mine, and I also manage the monthly newsletter and advisor knowledge base.

I believe in the power of academic advising in supporting student growth and persistence. I support The A Center once a week, providing academic advising at peak times and interpreting Strong Interest Inventories for students.

Previously, I contributed to major exploration advising with The A Center. There, in collaboration with the Arizona Institute for Resilience, I helped build Find Your Environment, providing specialized academic advising and experiential learning for students exploring pathways in environmental fields. In this program, I helped launch an exploratory course and the annual ENR2 Birthday Bash.

Before advising, I worked as a professional ceramic artist and a plant ecologist. I earned a B.S. and M.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the U of A.

I am a longtime Tucsonan (hello fellow THS Badgers!) and when not at work, you can find me hiking, dancing, and visiting local shops and restaurants.
